The Global Nuclear Energy Partnership and the Role of Fast Reactors, A Workshop presented by Argonne National Laboratory

Argonne National Laboratory has performed cutting-edge fast reactor research for over 50 years and continues that tradition today with numerous programs, including work advancing the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership. Our expertise covers all phases of fast reactor research, and we will be sharing that expertise with the participants in this workshop.

What will the workshop cover?
This workshop will consist of series of focused-topic sessions featuring lectures and discussions led by prominent Argonne fast reactor researchers, providing workshop participants an opportunity to develop a basic understanding of fast reactors and their role in the nuclear power industry in the 21st century. The workshop material will be appropriate for both undergraduate and graduate students. Questions and discussion are welcomed and encouraged. The planned workshop agenda is as follows:

Thursday, February 28th:
1:00 - 1:10 Introduction
1:10 - 1:40 Fast reactor physics
1:45 - 2:15 Fast reactor safety
2:15 - 2:30 Break
2:30 - 3:00 Advanced fast reactor simulations
3:05 - 3:35 Benefits of fast reactors to radioactive waste repositories
3:35 - 3:50 Break
3:50 - 4:20 Spent fuel reprocessing
4:25 - 4:55 Fast reactors and resources - world nuclear energy scenarios
4:55 - 5:00 Wrap-Up
