Recruiting
Information for those interested in making their company or organization known to the nuclear engineering students at Texas A&M.
Recruiting Information
The Texas A&M University Department of Nuclear Engineering would like to coordinate a recruiting visit by your company/organization to our department. Forwarding information to the appropriate person is extremely appreciated.
We are the largest Nuclear Engineering (NE) Department in the country and are currently ranked third (undergraduate) and fourth (graduate) among NE departments nationwide by US News and World Report. Our NE students are the most highly recruited graduates at Texas A&M; not only by local companies, but by global entities as well.
A recruiting trip to Texas A&M will put your company in direct contact with our 200+ undergraduate and 100+ graduate students in focused meeting sessions that will strategically align student audiences with your company’s hiring needs, both present and future. We at Texas A&M arrange focused talks between recruiters and target audiences such as employment-seeking seniors and graduate students, internship-seeking undergraduates, and the Texas A&M professional society student chapters. These focused talks would take the form of a senior seminar, scheduled interviews, an informational, and a joint meeting of the Texas A&M American Nuclear and Health Physics Societies. We invite you to tailor the following tentative recruitment schedule to best suit the needs of your company/organization.
Students will be present for recruiter meetings. Interviews will be arranged in advance. The Senior Seminar is a one hour senior and graduate course. Lastly, we suggest that recruiters provide pizza for the Societies meeting (we'll be happy to take care of the food arrangements) so to attract the largest audience. These guaranteed audiences strategically maximize your company/organization's exposure to the students.
We also have a wall in our NE Student Lounge reserved for our student society sponsors. Sponsors may hang a poster representing their company/organization in exchange for sponsorship of the American Nuclear/Health Physics Societies. This is a great opportunity to raise student interest and awareness of your company/organization.
Finally, the Texas A&M NE students will host the 2008 American Nuclear Society Student Conference and will need cooperate sponsorship in exchange for mass exposure to the top NE students nationwide. Please relay your company/organization's potential interest in this mutual endeavor and we will make sure to be in contact when the time comes.
For scheduling, questions, or comments (always appreciated), please contact Zach Bailey at bailey.zach@gmail.com.
Tentative Recruitment Schedule
10:00am-12:00pm: Informational - Recruiters would informally meet with interested students and faculty. This would take place in the NE conference room in open house fashion. Ideally, recruiters would be able to accept resumes for jobs and internships at this time.
12:00pm-1:00pm: Lunch Break - Recruiters may ask particular students to join them if desired.
1:00pm-3:30pm: Interviews - Formal, scheduled interviews will take place in the NE conference room with students either prearranged by your company or selected by us. Please provide us with information on the type of students that you would be most interested in talking with.
3:55pm-4:45pm: Senior Seminar - Formal classroom seminar with primarily graduating seniors and graduate students. Recruiters are asked to speak on the behalf of their employer about issues directly beneficial to the graduating college student including future employment opportunities.
5:00pm-6:00pm: American Nuclear Society/Health Physics Society Meeting - Recruiters are asked to speak to the students about a topic of their choosing whether it be about the represented company’s direction, personal endeavors, either technical or professional, or on any other such topic.
